International exhibition of renewable energies, clean energies and sustainable development

Picture1

The national development program of renewable energies, updated in February 2015, increased the electricity generation capacity from renewable sources to 22,000 MW for the national market (instead of 12 000 MW). By 2030, the export option is maintained as a strategic objective if the international market conditions will allow that.

By 2030, the share of renewable electricity in the overall national production will be 27%.

The volume of natural gas saved by the 22000 MW renewable will reach about 300 billion m3, equivalent to 8 times the national consumption of 2014.

The updated program is distinguished by the prominence given to the photovoltaic and at least for wind power (while the CSP, solar thermal, is postponed to 2021) and the impetus given to other sectors: biomass, CHP and geothermal energy.

The program is organized in two phases:

  • 2015-2020: 4525 MW distributed: photovoltaic (3000 MW), wind power (1010 MW), CHP (150 MW), biomass (360 MW) and geothermal (5 MW).
  • 2020-2030: 17475 MW distributed: photovoltaic (10575 MW), wind power (4000 MW), CSP (2000 MW), CHP (250 MW), biomass (640 MW) and geothermal (10 MW).

The incentive legal framework for the promotion of renewable energies consists of several laws and regulatory texts that contain direct and indirect support of provisions to investments in renewable energy, including customs duties and VAT reductions to ’import components, raw materials and semi-finished products used in the manufacturing of equipments in the field of renewable energy.

The manufacturing of photovoltaic solar panels has begun in the production units in Algeria.

The current regulations have an incentive mechanism based on buyback tariffs of renewable energy for producers in photovoltaic installations and wind power.

In 2014, a photovoltaic solar plant of 1,1 MW in Ghardaia and a wind farm of 10 MW at Adrar, were commissioned and were added to the hybrid solar-gas plant of 150 MW in Hassi R’mel.

A series of photovoltaic solar power projects are progressing well.
