Euroconvention Global is pleased to announce the Tanzania Infrastructure & New Energy Investment Forum, set to take place in Dar El Salaam on July 9, 2015. It will address the latest infrastructure developments and renewable power potential across the country. The background of this event is twofold:
Infrastructure & Logistics
Tanzania has been growing at about 6% in recent years, well above the African average of 4.8% annual GDP growth. The country has made great progress in reforming its road sector, improving the quality of the road network. One of the most important infrastructure challenges that faces Tanzania is to enhance its regional connectivity and to exploit the strategic access to markets via the port of Dar Es Salaam. Transport and logistics are thus key investment trends. Tanzania’s infrastructure needs are still significant – this opens many opportunities for business development, advisory services and private sector investments, as the country is looking for finance and innovative solutions to improve the entire logistics supply chain.
Renewable – Electricity power generation, transmission and distribution
The power sector poses Tanzania a serious infrastructure challenge as well. An estimated 2,046 megawatts of new generation capacity are needed to keep pace with demand, calling for major reforms. There is an acute need for investment in electricity transmission, generation and grid infrastructure. Tanzania would require an investment of $2.9 billion annually for 10 years to meet its power and energy infrastructure targets while existing spending stands at $1.2 billion a year. Generation projects (existing and planned) include hydroelectric, solar, thermal, wind, geothermal and biomass sites.
