HAALA Energy is a Saudi solar developer and EPC, combining deep local market understanding with a rigorous and analytical approach to project development. HAALA was founded in 2015, has offices in KAUST and Jeddah and incorporates employee ownership into its business model. Specializing in distributed commercial-scale solar PV, we develop peak-shaving and hybrid solutions to help commercial, industrial and agricultural clients reduce their energy costs and mitigate fuel price risk. We are a small team but the business is growing fast and we are looking for strong candidates to join our ranks. HAALA Energy is currently looking for an experienced solar PV engineer to produce system designs and advise on technical matters.


The role would include:

– Leading the design engineering work for ground-mounted, rooftop, car-port, on-grid, off-grid and diesel-solar hybrid projects from 250kW to 5MW

– Producing both preliminary and detailed designs including: site plans, module layouts, mounting structures, SLDs, detailed wiring diagrams, BOMs and interconnection details.

– Commissioning of projects

– Testing and quality control of systems

– Troubleshooting technical problems

– Informing technical strategy decisions

– Assisting with selection of suppliers/components

– Conducting yield assessments and feasibility studies

– Management of external consultants

– Development and design of pilot studies


Candidates must have:

– At least 3-5 years of PV engineering experience

– Proven ability to develop high quality system designs

– Experience commissioning systems, as well as conducting appraisals of build quality, both during and after construction

– Experience designing AC connections

– High level of proficiency with AutoCAD, PVsyst and other related software tools

– Reputable electrical engineering degree

– Fluency in English and good communication skills

– Confidence in taking on responsibility and being the point of call for technical issues

– An attention to detail and pride in delivering to high standards

– A willingness to continue to learn, grow and develop professionally

– Long-term commitment to being a part of a growing business


In addition, the following attributes would be an advantage:

– Exposure to a wide range of solar pv project types, clients and off-takers

– Other related experience (different generation technologies, grid networks etc)

– Familiarity with NEC requirements and construction best-practice

– Experience working in Saudi Arabia or the wider region

– Arabic speaker
