Enerwhere installs a 1 MW solar rooftop plant for Masterbaker with state-of-the-art robotic cleaning technology.
Construction for the Masterbaker solar PV rooftop plant began late August 2016 and was completed in Q1 2018. Conceptualised and designed by Dubai based Design Firm, Dimx Atelier, the facility is located at Technopark, Dubai. It has a roof spanning 12,500sqm of which 10,000sqm has been used for solar plant. This project is the first of its kind in UAE, as the maintenance of the solar panel modules is done using an automated system of 34 robots.
This innovative new cleaning system allows the modules to work at their full capacity by removing all dust and sand from the panels. With 3,300 panels installed, manual intervention is no longer required, making the system more cost efficient and providing even greater value to Masterbaker.
This is Enerwhere’s first installation for Masterbaker in the UAE. Their solar rooftop plant is composed of premium solar equipment that meets the toughest international standards, as well as mounting structures that can resist the harsh weather conditions in the UAE.
The site will use power generated from 1056kWp of rooftop panels that will be Canadian Solar dual-glass 72 cells 320 Wp, and utilise 15 pieces of 60kW SMA string inverters. They are estimated to produce 1711 MWh/year of clean energy, helping Masterbaker to lower their CO2 emissions by 914 Tons annually. This will reduce their carbon footprint dramatically whilst supporting the Dubai Shams initiative of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
Daniel Zywietz, CEO of Enerwhere, stated: “We are extremely pleased to have completed the installation of the first rooftop in Dubai and the UAE to be fully robotically cleaned. I hope this pioneering project highlights the real impact that Dubai businesses can have on reducing their carbon footprint, whilst simultaneouslt saving themselves significant costs”.
Masterbaker, a leader in the baking industry, provides first class ingredients and technical service to its customers in the Middle East. They chose to invest in this solar plant to meet their sustainability targets and lower their energy costs:
“It’s very important to us as a business to work towards a more sustainable future by reducing our carbon footprint. The new solar plant that Enerwhere’s team of expert engineers has installed across the rooftop of Masterbaker will help us achieve these goals whilst saving on our annual energy spend’’ Ronnie Khajotia, Director at Masterbaker.
