What is your role and how would you describe your job?
Enertis is an engineering consultancy company and my job at the organization is very rewarding as it allows me to face different challenges every day. I head our activities in the EMEA region from our office in the UK; business origination and coordination with head of our different departments (OE, IE, Accredited Testing, and QAQC) are all part of my daily routine; however, the most exciting part is the one related to strategy and expansion into key markets, such as the Middle East.
How did you start your journey in the solar industry?
My first contact with the solar industry came while I was still studying at the university; my background is Industrial Engineering (Energy field), and the topic of my dissertation was related to solar PV. After a break working with companies outside the PV industry, my professional journey into solar started when I joined Enertis around 10 years ago. I´ve seen the industry grow, overcome challenges, adapt to different realities… today it is really nice looking at the industry´s bright future and unstoppable penetration in our society.
What is your most memorable moment in Solar?
Fortunately, there have been many memorable moments in my journey. Enertis is a very dynamic company and I have experienced landmarks such our establishment in new markets or being trusted by key players in the industry. However, if I need to pick one I´d say that my memorable moment is related to our operations in the Middle East given the hard work that our team has put to create our structure for this region. Being appointed by Marubeni as their Owner´s Engineer in Oman or our company taking the lead in preparing the detailed design for a solar PV plant in Saudi is particularly satisfying.
