• Please describe your role at Enertis Applus+ and expertise in the sector?

Enertis Applus+ is a global engineering consultancy that provides services throughout the whole value chain for renewable energy projects. In addition, being part of a large group like Applus+ gives us access to a network of offices and qualified professionals across the globe.

After working for almost 12 years in renewables, my current role is related to our operations and business origination in the EMEA region. We focus on providing owner’s engineering, independent engineering, accredited testing, or QA/QC services with an expert supply chain assessment. Our expansion in the Middle East renewable energy market is going as expected and it is something that I am really enjoying.

• How did your story in solar begin and in your opinion, how much has it changed since then, if at all?

I have always been passionate about solar photovoltaics. I oriented my engineering degree to renewable energy and prepared my dissertation on a topic related to solar energy. The solar industry has changed dramatically over the last 10-15 years. Solar PV technology has improved its competitiveness, and this is proof of the wide deployment of large utility-scale, commercial, or even small self-consumption facilities.

• What does Enertis Applus+ specialize in and what is unique about you?

We are a global engineering and consultancy firm focused on renewables, mostly solar and energy storage systems. Apart from that, the position in the region of our parent company, the Applus+ Group, gives us access to the local market, therefore our clients can benefit from the support of a specialized team that combines a deep knowledge of the PV industry and specific knowledge of the local market.

• What could you tell us about Enertis Applus+ growth opportunities in the region?

Although recently the solar PV equipment has experienced a price increase that is delaying projects everywhere, especially those which were awarded two to three years ago, we observe a commitment to renewables in the region. Solar PV is expected to increase its penetration in the EMEA region in the next years, as the new capacity installed keeps growing. 

We strongly believe in the solar potential of the region and its benefits, therefore it is one of our key pillars for the future. At the end of the day, we look forward to contributing with our global expertise to make sure that these solar PV projects are technically sound and to ensure their operational performance.
