Tell us more about your journey in solar energy, when/where did it start, and how did you come to work with NES Global Arabia?

I can say that my journey in solar energy has just started with NES Global Arabia in Riyadh. Solar energy is still considered at early stages which is a great opportunity to witness and be part of the transaction from conventional sources of energy to green and sustainable energy which reflects NES Global Arabia strategy and vision in the industry across the region. That has created an interest for me to take this challenge and join NES Global Arabia.

Can you tell us about NES Global Arabia’s new office in KSA and why it was established?

NES Global Arabia Riyadh was established in addition to our existing office in Al Khobar to be a part of one of the fastest growing cities in the Middle East, also that will allow us to be close to our client who are involved in our key renewable energy and construction and infrastructure Clients as the Kingdom goes through its energy transition.

How do you see the solar market developing in KSA in the coming years?

The solar market in Saudi Arabia is expected to develop significantly in the coming years. The country has set ambitious targets for renewable energy, and solar is expected to play a major role in achieving these targets.

The Saudi government has already taken several steps to promote the development of the solar market. In 2019, the government launched the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), which aims to install 58.7 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Of this, 40 GW is expected to come from solar.
Some of the key factors that drives the growth of the solar market in Saudi Arabia are Government support, Falling solar costs, Excellent solar resources, and Growing demand for clean energy.

Saudi Arabia is well-positioned to become a major player in the global solar market, and it is expected to play a significant role in the transition to a clean energy future.

NES has been announced as one of the sponsors of the upcoming MESIA and Solarabic Solar trade mission. In this context, why do you think KSA is so important as a market and how do you see it evolve?

The Solar industry in KSA is about to go through a period of exponential growth, and if the industry is to achieve its goals there will need to be a big focus on localization, in addition to the support from regional and international companies. The trade mission is important since it will allow international players from the industry to explore opportunities and meet potential partners to help them develop their presence in the kingdom.
